Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
FiFi ("FiFi", the "App", or the "Service") is a software application that helps users discover fashion items from social media videos by analyzing publicly shared video content and returning visually similar shopping results.
This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the App, how that information is used and stored, and what rights you may have regarding that information. References in this policy to "we," "us," or "our" refer to the operator of the FiFi application.
By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the practices described in this policy, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following categories depending on how you interact with the Service.
2.1 Information You Provide
Video URLs
When you use FiFi, you voluntarily submit a public video URL (for example, from Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts). We receive and process that URL on your behalf in order to identify clothing items within the video.
FiFi does not currently require user accounts, and we do not request your name, email address, or other direct contact information in order to use the core functionality of the App.
2.2 Information Generated Through Processing
When a video URL is submitted, our systems may automatically generate and process the following types of information:
- Extracted frames: a small number of still images captured from the video for analysis purposes
- Cropped item images: images of clothing items detected within those frames
- AI-generated embeddings and metadata: numerical representations and descriptive attributes derived from detected items, used for product matching and search
- Processing logs: system records associated with the request, including timestamps and processing status
2.3 Device and Usage Information
When you use the App, certain technical information may be collected automatically, including:
- IP address
- Device type and operating system version
- App version
- Crash reports and diagnostic data
- General usage analytics (such as feature interactions and session duration)
This information helps us operate, maintain, and improve the Service. Analytics information is generally collected in aggregated or pseudonymized form where possible.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Providing the Service: processing video URLs, detecting clothing items, and returning relevant shopping results
- Improving system performance: cropped item images and embeddings may be used to improve detection models and product matching accuracy
- Maintaining security and reliability: logs and technical data help detect abuse, diagnose errors, and protect system integrity
- Analyzing usage patterns: aggregated analytics help us understand how the App is used and where improvements may be made
- Complying with legal obligations: information may be processed or retained when required by applicable law or regulatory authorities
We process information as necessary to operate and improve the Service and to provide the functionality requested by users. Where applicable law requires consent or other legal bases for processing, we rely on those bases as required.
4. How Video Content Is Processed
This section describes the lifecycle of video content submitted through the App.
- URL submission You submit a public video URL to FiFi. The Service is designed to process publicly accessible video content only. We do not attempt to access private, password-protected, or account-gated content.
- Temporary retrieval Our systems temporarily retrieve publicly accessible video content from the provided URL for the purpose of analyzing visual frames.
- Frame extraction A limited number of still frames are extracted from the video for analysis. The full video content is not retained after processing.
- Item detection Automated systems analyze the extracted frames to identify clothing items appearing in the video.
- Item crops and embeddings Detected clothing items may be converted into cropped images and numerical representations (embeddings) used for visual search and product matching.
- Product search These representations are used to query shopping services and return visually similar product results.
FiFi does not store, host, or redistribute full video files, and the Service does not provide playback, downloading, or redistribution of the original video content.
5. Data Retention
Different categories of information are retained for different periods depending on operational needs.
| Data Type | Retention Approach |
|---|---|
| Video content | Retrieved temporarily during processing and not retained after processing |
| Extracted frames | Deleted after analysis or retained briefly for system quality review |
| Cropped item images | May be retained as reasonably necessary to support search functionality and improve detection systems |
| AI embeddings and metadata | May be retained as reasonably necessary to support matching, search, and system improvement |
| Processing logs | Retained for a limited period for debugging, security monitoring, and operational integrity |
| Usage analytics | Retained in aggregated or pseudonymized form where possible |
We periodically review stored information and delete data that is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell personal information as defined under applicable privacy laws. We may share information in the following limited circumstances.
6.1 Infrastructure Providers
We may use third-party infrastructure providers for services such as cloud hosting, data storage, proxy infrastructure, analytics, and monitoring. These providers receive only the information necessary to perform services on our behalf and are not authorized to use that information for independent purposes.
6.2 Shopping and Product Search Services
To generate product results, information about detected items (such as embeddings or cropped item images) may be submitted to external product search services solely for the purpose of retrieving visually similar products.
6.3 Legal Requirements
Information may be disclosed if required by law, regulation, legal process, or valid government request, or where disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Service, its users, or the public.
6.4 Business Transfers
If the Service or its assets are transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, associated information may be transferred as part of that transaction. Users may be notified of any material changes affecting how personal information is handled.
7. Third-Party Services
The App may interact with the following categories of third-party services:
- Social media platforms which host the publicly shared video URLs submitted by users
- Cloud infrastructure providers used to host and operate the Service
- Product search and shopping services used to retrieve visually similar products
- Analytics and monitoring tools used to improve system performance
Your interactions with third-party platforms are governed by the privacy policies and terms of those platforms. FiFi does not control the privacy practices of third-party services.
8. International Data Processing
Because the Service uses globally distributed infrastructure providers, information processed by FiFi may be transferred to or stored on servers located in multiple countries depending on where the underlying service providers operate their systems.
9. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect the information processed through the Service, including:
- encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
- access controls limiting access to operational systems
- monitoring systems for detecting operational or security issues
- periodic review of data handling practices
No internet-based system can guarantee absolute security. While we take reasonable steps to protect information, we cannot guarantee complete security of all data transmissions.
10. Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding personal information processed about you under applicable privacy laws. These rights may include the ability to request:
- access to information about personal data processed about you
- correction of inaccurate information
- deletion of certain personal data
- restriction or objection to certain forms of processing
Requests may be submitted using the contact information below. Requests will be reviewed and handled in accordance with applicable law. Because FiFi currently operates without user accounts and collects limited personal information, our ability to identify specific users or link requests to individual data may be limited.
California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to request information about the categories of personal information collected or request deletion of certain personal information. FiFi does not sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes.
11. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has submitted personal information through the Service, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete the information. Certain jurisdictions may impose higher minimum age requirements.
12. Copyright and Rights Holder Notice
FiFi processes publicly accessible video URLs that are voluntarily submitted by users. If you are a copyright owner or rights holder and believe that content processed through the Service infringes your rights, please contact us. We will review such requests and take appropriate action where necessary.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or operational practices. When changes are made, the "Last Updated" date at the top of the policy will be revised. Continued use of the Service after updates are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
